North Central Maryland Rail Trail Ride

Ride leader: Michelle Apple.

This will be a combo ride with optional river tubing after the ride in Gunpowder Falls State Park.  We will meet in the parking lot at the Monkton Torrey C. Brown Trail access point at 9:30 am. 

Directions:  From 695 N, take Exit 24 for I-83 towards York.  Take Exit 27 to MD-137, Mt. Carmel Rd. toward Hereford. R on MD-137 E/Mt. Carmel Rd. R on MD 45 S. L on Md-138E. The parking lot is not huge but if it is filled, you can park on the street. There are restrooms. Wheels will roll at 10:00 am sharp.

Description:  We will ride out and back roughly 26 miles.  Trail is flat and terrain similar to C&O, so appropriate for hybrids. Ride is very scenic and SHADY!

After the ride, we will enjoy lunch at the Café right at the parking lot and an optional cool off with a 1.5 hour float down the river with a tube rented from Monkton Bikes. It is a 10 minute walk with your tube to the put-in point. Small tubes rent for $15 and large tubes rent for $30.
