Trip Cancelation, Refund, and Other Policies

This page highlights various trip related policies of the Frederick Ski Club.


Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis as follows: (Note: Most overnight trips will use on-line registration via the website)

  • Frederick Ski Club (FSC) members and Blue Ridge Ski Counsel (BRSC) members may go on sponsored FSC trips.
  • Current FSC members and BRSC members are required to have a signed membership liability form and no club dues pending.
  • Non-members can register for trips, however, for high demand trips, registration will generally be open to members first.  Non-members will be required to join the Frederick Ski Club prior to the trip.

Trip Deposits are outlined in all trip descriptions.  The trip will outline a schedule for the deposit and the remaining balance due. All checks are payable to the Frederick Ski Club.  A trip deposit, a current FSC membership status, and written/email confirmation by the trip leader will secure a club members position on a sponsored trip.


Airline, lodging, transportation and other venues may impose cancellation penalties to FSC sponsored trips.  All trips will post information on advertisements on the last date to cancel before penalty or loss of deposit.  If a member wishes to cancel a trip they must notify the trip leader in writing.  The cost of the trip less any amount we are contractually required to pay (including administrative costs) will be refunded. Attempts will be made to find replacement travelers for trips, however, this is not guaranteed.

Epic and Ikon Ski Passes

    • Increasingly our ski trip destinations are to Epic and Ikon resorts.  Trips to these destinations may require travelers to purchase an appropriate pass for the trip. These pass products would be purchased by the individual and they are non-refundable and non-transferable.
    • For ski trips to an Epic or Ikon destination, refunds after November 1st will be highly contingent on finding a replacement traveler.

The club, trip leader, or leadership of the club are not responsible for obtaining a refund for members once the cancellation date has passed. Please speak to a trip leader to be sure you understand this process before you sign up for any FSC trip.


The FSC board recommends members apply for trip insurance.  For international trips, a minimum of medical travel insurance is required.  See our Trip Insurance page for more information on trip insurance, including some possible sources.  Note: The COVID-19 pandemic adds uncertainty whether a trip will happen as planned.  The Frederick Ski Club does not guarantee refunds, even if trip attendees’ reason is COVID-19 related.
