Bike Ride #20 - Washington Sailing Marina to Mount Vernon

We will meet at 9:00 am and leave at 9:30 am, riding from the Washington Sailing Marina to Mount Vernon. The path is 95% paved and has a incline just before Mt. Vernon. The ride is approximately 22 miles total. A Hybrid or Road bike is good for this ride, but caution should be used on the flat wooden bridges over the few water spots. They path is mostly shaded and one or two spots of crossing the roads. We can decide on length of a break at Mt. Vernon for exploring souvenir shops, food court or a packed lunch before returning. Please advise if you plan to attend, so nobody is left behind, that is going on the ride. The meeting spot at the Marina is all the way back to the left near the public bathrooms. Cancellations due to weather will be day of ride by 7 am. Helmets are required and a lock for your bike at Mt Vernon.

From 495 South, cross the American Legion Bridge into Virginia.
Take the George Washington Memorial Parkway exit.

Stay on GW Pkwy (about 15 miles) Stay in the left lane and pass Reagan National Airport .
